Bookmarks and more

Here is what I've spent the majority of my time on this week. They are a lot of fun to make and I really enjoy it. Since I've got them spread out all over my kitchen table and a folding table near the kitchen table, I kind of have to focus on "paper" crafts when I have it all out. (It's a lot of stuff to take out and put back up.)

I've got to get to some more baby blankets, paintings, and tote bags, but we've also got to take advantage of being outside on the nice days and trying to take care of things around the house. It will all get done, but not in a day. And that's okay. Unfortunately, then I neglect you peeps a little bit for the sake of my craft and much needed time in the sun. But that's okay, too. I know you'll forgive me when you finally get to see all the great pics/stories I've been saving up (one involving a creepy wheelchair). (Oh, and a red fox.) Feel free to remind me about them if you haven't seen/read about either within the next two weeks.

Pooker made it back safely (complete with a magnet for me from New York to add to my "happy place" magnet collection). We've had an Etsy sale this week (bringing the total number of sales off Etsy to 12), a basket of our stuff in a teacher's lounge which has been really selling (which also resulted in a few more sales thanks to our new fan, Lisa, and thanks to Nee's friend who kindly took the basket in in the first place), and a sale in Mardel's while I was laminating my bookmarks (thank you, Lori, who bought 26 bookmarks from me right then and there). It has been a busy, but fulfilling, week.

Tiny Gift Tags and Teeny Tiny Gift Tags

These top two are teeny tiny gift tags -- only an inch by an inch and a half!

These yawning mice are tiny gift tags - measuring an inch and 3/4 by 2 1/2 inches.

Victorian Gift Tags

These are the Victorian gift tags I made this week and put in our Etsy store (am selling them in five groups, 13 tags in each). Those are the last of the Victorian pictures I had (thanks to my sister for giving me her odds and ends), so when these are gone, that's it.

I'm trying to work through all the stuff I have (and have been given recently, again thanks to my sis) to make something out of seemingly nothing so I can try to lighten my load by making something useful out of it all. Only so much I can do at one time....

Tote Bags

This is the pink fleur-de-lis tote bag I made for my sister for Christmas. You can see her modeling it (and smiling--I think she likes it).

These other four are tote bags I've made during the past month and put on our Etsy store to sell. (We had our second and third sales this week! Yeah!)

Assorted Gift Tags

These are some of the gift tags I've been working on lately (in between cleaning the house, working on our Etsy store, and trying to get my part-time work done). Right now, I'm just trying to wake up enough so Brownie and I can go for our walk. Seems to be a little nicer out and I look forward to fresh air and sunshine to start my day.

Our first sale!

We had our first sale in our Etsy store this week! Yeah! It was a beautiful magnet set (made by my sister) and bought by a person in Colorado (thank you!). That gives us the encouragement we need to continue on. We are up to 56 items now, but we're still not finished putting on what we've already made so we'll keep at it.

Mailings, gift tags, and morning walks

I got hit this week with several things at once. I was finishing up a 358 piece mailing for my part time work when yesterday I got asked to do another mailing with at least 207 pieces. Those take some time to do! Plus, I've still been working on getting the things I have made on Etsy and trying to take care of odds and ends around the house. Whew. It's been a busy few days. Posting, unfortunately, was further down on my list since the mailings are pretty time sensitive.

To relax a bit between all the work, I sit down and make more of my gift tags. I thought these "happy birthday" ones were really pretty. I did them on a variety of colorful cardstock and put two sets of them on Etsy to see how they sell. I really love making gift tags, especially making something useful out of odds and ends.

I need to get ready to go for our morning walk so we can squeeze it in between all the other things. Looks like it is 18 degrees outside with the high of 30 today with lots of sunshine and light winds. Should be a beautiful 30 degrees (I hope).

My sisters and I now have a store on Etsy! It is for all things handmade. If you check it out today you'll find my Christmas gift tags and maybe some of my sister's pails. Our booth at the Indie Emporium

Here is our booth at the Indie Emporium. This was our first time to do this show and we were excited about it. It turned out to be a very interesting, enlightening, learning experience. We did not do as well as we had hoped. I ended up selling $2.00 worth of postcards to a lady. No, that is not an error. I really only sold $2.00. It was disappointing in that regard. However, we enjoyed spending time together and were able to see what really sold (people did buy from other vendors) and we had a lot of time to watch people and see just what they were buying. The vendor selling fake mustaches on a stick near us sold at least five of them that I saw. He made more on fake mustaches than I made the whole day and a half. That's a sad thing (for me, probably not for him). We shall perservere with our art and crafts. I saw exactly where the box was and will now know when I'm thinking outside of it.

Barbie Sized Bedspreads and Throwpillows

Here are the Barbie sized bedspreads and throwpillows that I make to sell. My Barbie (that I've had for at least 27 years) is kindly modeling them for me. If you'll notice, some of the pillows and throwpillows are different in each picture. I have a lot of fun working in miniature. So far, I've sold a bedspread and pillow set and two throwpillows (bedspread comes with a matching pillow, then all extra pillows and throwpillows sold separately).

These, along with a few other crafts, were what I was working on so diligently for the craft fairs.
