Yellow Flowers

There were such beautiful flowers on the trail this summer (before it got too hot for anything to survive without rain). It did finally rain today after several weeks of no rain and temperatures soaring in the 100's (anywhere between 103 and 107, not counting the heat index). It was really unbearable. I think we still have rain chances and I do hope we get more. At least enough for the brown patches/scorched patches in my lawn to green back up!

Orange and Red Flowers

I love it when these flowers come into bloom. I don't know what kind of tree these grow on, but they are here by the river and I've seen them in some yards around town. It sure makes a beautiful orangey red flower!

These are new on our trail this year as after they finished re-doing it, they planted a bunch of new trees in the middle and on either side of the new paths (one path for pedestrians, one path for bicycles). Again, I don't know what kind of trees these are (and not all of the trees are this kind), but these produce such beautiful red flowers with yellow centers. I love seeing all the splashes of color here and there on our walks.

Yellow Flowers by the River

These wild yellow flowers growing by the river are really beautiful. They are kind of exotic looking and if one just looked at these pictures, you'd think we lived in Hawaii or some other wild island paradise.

Flowers and more Flowers

You already know I can't resist taking pictures of the flowers. They seem to be new every morning (just like God's grace). These lavender/pink ones are by a new bronze statue they put in along the walking trail (suppose I could have shown you the cheetah statue, too, huh?) and the yellowish ones are by the Bear Fountain. Because of all the rain, everything is wonderfully green, but I need these colorful spots of beauty to start my day off with.

More flowers on the farm

I keep showing you the beautiful wildflowers from the farm because I ended up going home three times last month (Memorial Day weekend, middle of June, and this past week for my great uncle's funeral). These are the last of the pictures from my trip home in the middle of June. I've been trying to get all my pictures posted (and I like to do it somewhat chronologically). That's why you keep getting treated to some of the same flowers in different poses!

Yes, still more flower pictures! I can't help but keep taking pictures of the beautiful flowers we see on our walks by the river.

Tiptoeing through the Tulips

And here are the flowers at home during the day so you can actually see some of the brilliant colors!! I love the rich purple of this one and how the middle of it seems to be glowing.

What more can I say about the Indian Paintbrush flower? It is so brilliant and to see a field blanketed in these is quite stunning.

Here's Brownie tiptoeing through the tulips (not literally), but I'm not sure she is all that interested in the beauty of the flowers, more like has a cat passed through here recently?

I liked how it looked like she was walking into the light here in this picture, surrounded by the gorgeous glowing purple wild flowers. (Mom has informed me that some of these wildflowers (like the purple ones) are actually weeds, but I still think the flowers are beautiful. As I'm neither a farmer nor a gardener and it's not my lawn, I can see the beauty in a weed with beautiful flowers on it.)

My Mama's Flowers

My mama has beautiful flowers planted in pots all over outside her house. They are grouped together here and there to make little spots of beauty and rest all over her yard. It is really fun to see such a wild profusion of color and such a wide variety of flowers. She didn't use to have flowers (probably because she didn't have the time), but the last four years or so she has really taken to them. I love going home and seeing what she's got planted each year!

Indian Paintbrush Flowers

We went home over Memorial Day weekend (and I went again last week, but I'll get to that one later). The sides of the roads are covered with these beautiful little Indian Paintbrush flowers. I don't recall seeing such beautiful colors alongside the roads for many years, but due to them getting higher than usual rainfall, these flowers have came back in abundance.

Brownie's little cousin invited her over to play in the flowers so we could get pictures of them. They seemed to really enjoy each other as Brownie would just keep bringing him the ball to throw and he would smile and throw it for her (with her taking little rest breaks in between the throwing).

These flowers mixed with the other native wildflowers really are quite stunning together with all their reds, yellows, and purples mixed in with the green grasses. I'm not sure I've quite captured their beauty, but these were taken near sunset and were still quite beautiful in their wildness.

I loved how this picture makes you want to walk through these beautiful flowers and step into the light. It beckons and draws me and and makes me feel as if heaven were only one step away and I want to step on in and just be absorbed by all that love and light and life.

I saw two packets of Indian paintbrush seeds sitting on the hutch, so before I left I asked Mom if I could have one. She said Brynna (my 4 year old niece) wanted one and Mom let me have the other. I poked a few seeds into a pot the morning after I got home and I'm now seeing some little green leaves poke through the soil! I hope to have my own beautiful Indian Paintbrushes on my patio to remind me of home.

Flowers from early this spring

I took these pictures at the beginning March when we had some beautiful spring weather and the flowers started coming out. I really love the little purple flowers peeking up through the mulch.

Beautiful Flowers

I really love it when winter turns into spring and all those lovely flowers start to come out (or are planted!). Seems like we only had a few weeks of spring like weather this year before all the storms and weather patterns have kind of left us hot and humid for weeks.

The red rose and purple flower I have planted in pots on my back patio. The yellow flower is a perennial and is growing down by the Bear fountain (our walks by the river sometimes take us by the fountain). There are many wonderful flowers that grow wild by the river and I look forward to showing them to you in the weeks to come.

Flowers in my yard

I don't normally show you pictures of dead flowers, but liked how the rose I didn't trim off from last season looked amidst the green leaves that are sprouting this year. And, of course, the pretty purple flower from below is probably only a weed, but it sure is pretty. Weeds can grow some of the cutest little flowers. I don't know why that is, but I like it. These pictures are from mid-March.

Beautiful Purply Spider Mum

This is a beautiful Spider Mum that my cousin gave me for my birthday in February. I kept it in a vase by my sink so I could look at it all the time. Surprisingly, it lasted about a month until I finally had to throw it away last week.

The pansies are out!

Over the last couple of weeks, we've been seeing that the pansies are out! The only drawback with the pansies is we have to walk where people have planted them as they don't tend to grow wild by the river. Right now, we're kind of more into wild by the river as that's where we've stuck close to for our walks the past week and a half.

Flowers and Berries

Here are the last flowers and berries I saw this year (first part of Nov.). I just love the brilliant pinks, yellows, and reds against the backdrop of Fall. So beautiful.

Beautiful Flowers

I know I say beautiful flowers a lot, but that is how I think of flowers. To me, they are just so beautiful. A bright spot of color and life here and there, sometimes where you least expect it. I need spots of beauty in the midst of not so beautiful things.
