We were on our walk last week when Brownie noticed this squirrel. He was sitting on the ground eating his nut, but when we went closer to investigate, he ran up in the tree and continued to eat his nut. It is fascinating to watch them eat it. They turn it around and around in their hands while their teeth are working at the shell and little bits of shell are flying off as fast as they are turning the nut. We watched him until he was done eating and threw the empty shell on the ground and scampered up higher in the tree. I was glad he let us watch because both Brownie and I were staring at him pretty intensely (and were standing fairly close).
